Customer Service Officer

World Vision Tanzania is seeking a Customer Service Officer to join their VisionFund microfinance programme at the Head Office in Tanzania. The role carries a diverse mix of financial operations, customer service, and administrative responsibilities. On the banking side, the post holder will process pay-in slips and issue receipts, initiate cheque payments and submit them for central processing, perform bank reconciliations, acknowledge bank correspondence, and send disbursement sheets to the central processing centre while physically confirming clients during disbursements. For payments and petty cash, responsibilities include reimbursement and disbursement as per policy, processing cash and cheque payments against authorised vouchers, settling invoices from service delivery agents such as bills, contractors, and labour wages, and purchasing office consumables.
Customer-facing duties encompass attending inquiries, promoting and marketing savings products, directing clients to appropriate officers or channels, monitoring ATM usage, registering and resolving customer complaints, providing accurate information, and distributing marketing materials. The post holder will also prepare reports for the Business Center Manager on matters including ATM card loss, mobile line issues, missing clients, asset delivery and losses, and savings mobilisation. Savings mobilisation responsibilities include mobilising, marketing, and selling savings products, opening savings accounts, and ensuring Know Your Customer documentation is approved. Office administration duties cover safe custody of client loan collaterals and documents, proper documentation of payments, posting and receiving parcels, compiling and reporting customer complaints, photocopying and printing, and managing business centre stationery.
Minimum qualifications include a degree in Accounting with a clear understanding of data entry and technology, very good knowledge of financial information, and strong analytical and reporting skills. Preferred experience includes proficiency in Microsoft Office, leadership capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication and marketing skills. The role requires the ability to model and demonstrate effective Christian leadership and lead daily devotions. The position is based at World Vision Tanzania Head Office on a full-time fixed-term local contract.
