About Americares
Americares is a health-focused relief and development organisation. It has delivered medicines and medical supplies to Tanzania since 1994 and has run health programmes since 2010 from its country office in Mwanza, which covers the Mwanza, Mara, Shinyanga and Kigoma regions.
Maternal and child care is a major focus. With the Ministry of Health and Bugando Medical Centre it runs an obstetric fistula programme in the Lake Zone, donates medicines and supplies to Bugando every year, and works with hospitals on health worker safety, including hepatitis B vaccination and training in safe work practices.
