Associate Grants Officer
About this role
AGRA is seeking an Associate Grants Officer to join its country team in Tanzania on a temporary basis. The role sits within the grants management function and is responsible for supporting pre-award and post-award grant processes for the Tanzania country office and its portfolio of grantees. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with in-country leadership, the regional grants team, and headquarters to ensure effective and compliant grant administration aligned with AGRA's agricultural transformation mission. Core responsibilities include managing day-to-day project and in-kind grants across the portfolio, maintaining grant tracking databases through AMIS and related tools, and monitoring the flow of grant proposals from initial submission through award issuance and first payment. The Associate Grants Officer will conduct pre-award due diligence including organizational capacity assessments, identify grantees requiring technical assistance, and deliver training on grants compliance and reporting requirements. Additional duties encompass ensuring donor compliance throughout the grant lifecycle, collaborating with program staff on grant modifications and amendments, building grantee capacity in M&E systems and tools, and conducting portfolio performance reviews and health checks. The role also involves organizing start-up orientation workshops for new awards, scheduling reporting requirements and payments, and maintaining accurate data entry in AMIS. The position requires a bachelor's degree in commerce, finance, or a related field with an accounting certification, along with demonstrated experience in grant-making environments and financial management. Candidates must possess strong training and compliance advisory skills, excellent organizational abilities with attention to detail, and the capacity to work under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
