Assistant Environment Officer

UNHCR is seeking an Assistant Environment Officer to be based in Kasulu, Tanzania. The role supports environmental programming for refugee and displacement operations, overseeing environmental assessments, planning, monitoring, and evaluation of integrated environmental projects. Core responsibilities include addressing refugee-related environmental challenges, promoting environmentally sustainable and appropriate technologies, and supporting community-based and participatory approaches to environmental management. The position requires a minimum of five years of experience in environmental assessment, planning, and monitoring across integrated environmental programmes in both displacement and stable contexts. Desired qualifications include practical familiarity with refugee-related environmental problems, emerging sustainable technologies, renewable energy solutions, and community engagement methodologies. The successful candidate will join UNHCR\'s environmental team working in one of Tanzania\'s refugee-operations areas, contributing to sustainable programming that balances humanitarian needs with environmental protection.
