About this role

The European Union Delegation to the United Republic of Tanzania and the East African Community, based in Dar es Salaam, is recruiting an Administrative Assistant for its Administration Section under a fixed-term employment contract of two years as a Local Agent, with a possibility of renewal. The recruited person will serve under the supervision of the Head of Administration Section and provide support across infrastructure, procurement, inventory and human resources. Core responsibilities include managing the registry and accommodation approvals for expatriate staff, organising repairs and maintenance of office premises and the Ambassador's Residence, acting as Infrastructure Coordinator on building renovation projects, and monitoring project deadlines and budget matters. In procurement, the role covers defining tender types, preparing tender documents, managing evaluation procedures, liaising with suppliers, conducting market research, and maintaining a supplier database. On inventory, duties involve verifying physical assets, encoding new acquisitions, and conducting yearly inventory exercises. HR support encompasses coordinating recruitment for local staff and trainees, facilitating medical cost reimbursements, and supporting learning and development activities. The minimum requirements are excellent command of Kiswahili and very good English, proficient IT skills, and at least six years of professional experience as a facility manager or procurement officer, with a post-secondary degree. Experience in a diplomatic mission or with EU policies is desirable. The base salary starts from approximately 4,910,058 TZS, with a competitive benefits package including health insurance, leave days and a retirement savings plan. The expected start date is 01/07/2026.
