Investment Lead – Infrastructure and Critical Minerals

The British High Commission's Partnerships and Investment Lead role supports delivery of BHC's Strategic Economic Growth Plan, with a focus on increasing investment into Tanzania from UK firms across critical minerals, clean energy, financial sector and infrastructure. The job holder sits within the Sustainable Prosperity Team at the British High Commission in Dar es Salaam, reporting to the Economic Advisor. Core responsibilities include establishing and maintaining a strong stakeholder network with the Government of Tanzania, particularly officials responsible for infrastructure, energy, critical minerals, finance and public-private partnerships, while building and maintaining a pipeline of UK investment and export potential linked to opportunities on the ground.
The post holder will identify investment opportunities in both public and private sectors and translate these into transactions and deals, supporting critical minerals private sector engagement and deal flow, and delivering the UK's Industrial Strategy and R&D partnerships. They will support the six-monthly technical-level meetings under the Mutual Prosperity Partnership, the UK-Tanzania MOU, and the annual dialogue between the High Commissioner and Tanzanian ministers, leading pipeline development and project origination for instruments such as UK Export Finance and PIDG. The role requires at least five years of experience in the private sector, ideally with an international firm, and/or in government supporting private sector companies in doing business, combined with strong knowledge of the Tanzanian market and East African trade and investment dynamics.
Candidates must demonstrate expertise in financing instruments such as PPPs, sovereign and infrastructure bonds, de-risking instruments and blended finance, alongside strong political economy awareness and the ability to work credibly with government and private sector on investment. The position is based in Dar es Salaam as a fixed-term appointment starting 1 December 2026, at Grade Senior Executive Officer (SEO) with a monthly salary of TZS 8,077,708.
